Profishient Charters offers exciting river drift style fishing charters on the Kalamazoo and St. Joseph rivers for trophy steelhead and salmon starting November 1 running through   April 1.   Profishient Charters has a custom Tracy’s river jet boat with a full enclosure with   propane heat  to keep you out of the elements during the fall and winter months.  We also bring along a small gas grill for a shore lunch of brats and dogs.

We typically employ a “drop spawn” and plug setup to keep 7 or more lines in the water working different gravel beds and holes as we anchor drift down the rivers.    Expect sudden and exciting action as 5-15lb steelhead rocket out of the water in an up close and personal situation!

We recommend parties of 3 or less, but can accomodate up to 4 people.    We travel between rivers following the best steelhead action throughout the fall and winter, with steady action throughout.

2009 year of the big Kings..

The 2009 season proved to be one of the greatest in recent memory due to the numbers of large salmon that were caught.    We had a suspicion when we were catching 15-20lb kings down in Michigan City during April, and it proved to hold throughout the season.

It was very common to catch several 20lb+ fish throughout the summer months, with the largest weighing in at 28.5lbs after 8 hours in the cooler.

As is typical on Profishient, the ladies always get it done in a big way and 2009 was no exception.   Of all the 20lb+ fish, over 3/4 of them were landed by the ladies.   For whatever reason, the ladies seem to have the right touch to landing these brutes while the guys usually break them off.

Hopefully the run of big fish continues into upcoming years, it all depends on the baitfish population.   But until then, we are still in search of the 30lb King!
