To put it bluntly…the fish are just not here yet. A few stragglers combined with mixed water proved tough today. We are going to roll it back down to St Joseph tomorrow and fish the next week there…where we know the action is hot. Hopefully the weather holds out this weekend!

U.S. Supreme Court Reject Michigan on Asian Carp

April 26, 2010
The U.S. Supreme Court, rejecting a bid by Michigan, refused to order Illinois and the federal government to permanently separate the waters of Chicago-area rivers and canals from Lake Michigan to stop the migration of Asian carp.
Today’s rebuff was the third this year for Michigan at the nation’s highest court, which previously declined to order the temporary closure of area locks and dams as a step to keep the carp from entering Lake Michigan. Illinois officials and President Barack Obama’s administration urged the court not to get involved.
Michigan and other Great Lakes states say that, should the carp reach Lake Michigan, they would spread rapidly, consume nutrients needed by other species and potentially devastate the region’s $7 billion sport-fishing industry and much of its tourism business.
“The fight to protect Michigan’s jobs and environment now falls to President Obama and Congress,” Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said in a statement.

St Joseph Michigan Fishing Report 4/24-4/25
We have been waiting patiently for the fishing to bust wide open and for the kings to move in, and this weekend it happened. 20 fish on Saturday, and another 25 this morning in 4 hours kept our customers busy. Kings up to 15lbs, plenty of steelhead and coho mixed in made it what early spring fishing is all about…action! Hottest baits by far were silver streak Magnums and Regular…best color was “bloody mary”. Silver Streak mini’s in orange did the damage up high for cohos and steelhead. The kings are fresh in from offshore, losing alot of scales and not much in their bellies yet…they have yet to really get feeding on the bait that is showing up.
April 13 Fishing Report
Solid bite today on Profishient Charters in St Joseph Michigan today…10 coho and several other fish on. Lake is setting back up and should be very good this weekend. Best bites were on silver streak mini’s in gold color, as well as thin fins, and orange 00 dodgers with howie pnut flies. Blood Run Super Copper in 50′ segments were good with spoons and body baits..
